“CLose to Home” an Unusual Perspective of the Usual by Artsits Robyn Feeley and Fae Horowitz

An Unusual Perspective of the Usual

Topanga Canyon Gallery announces the opening of its new show, “Close To Home”, an unusual perspective of the usual, featuring new works by Robyn Feeley and Fae Horowitz.

The inspiration for the show, which opens on Wednesday September 29th, came to Artographer Fae Horowitz on one of her morning walks. Photographs from her world travels usually serve as the basis of her work, but on a morning walk in her Santa Monica neighborhood, Fae realized that she doesn’t have to travel far and wide to capture fantastic subject matter.  It was all in front of her,  “Close to Home”.

Topanga’s Robyn Feeley, known for her whimsical animal portraits, recently discovered long forgotten artwork in the attic of her childhood home -  dog paintings and a mosaic koala bear dating back to the late 1960’s. Robyn will unveil a new series of work: familiar Canyon scenes as seen through the eyes of her frog friend, “Dennis Hop-per”.

“Close to Home” runs from Wednesday Sept 29th through Sunday October 10th – two weeks only.

See the show and meet the artists at the Artist Reception on Saturday October 2nd from 5pm-8pm.

“Welcome to Our House” opening Reception

Fidel Kestrel even took time out of his busy schedule to pose next to his portrait by artist Robyn Feeley.

Wonder what the bird’s eye view was at the opening reception of “Welcome to Our House” a fundraising art show for the Nature of Wildworks. In attendance were Tara the red tailed hawk, Fidel Kestrel, and Dancer the Barn Owl to name just a few.

Live music featuring Devitt Feeley on mandolin and guitar, refreshments and the gallery was alive with people amazed to be interacting with these magnificent creatures.

Participating Gallery Artists include: Rebecca Andrews, Farideh Azad, Robin Becker, John Brunnick, Rebecca Catterall, Laurent Deimer, Robyn Feeley, Hadia Finley, Debbi Green, Susan Haskell, Carol Hernandez, Susan Lomino, Phillip Messena, Karrie Ross, Karen Saviskas, John Smith and Felice Willat. A portion of the proceeds from this show benefit all of the animals at the Nature of Wildworks education center.

Members John Adams, Robyn Feeley and Felice Willat will be representing the Topanga Canyon Gallery at the 37th annual Topanga Days Arts and Music Festival.

Building begins on Friday May 28th.  Special thanks goes to John “Yorkie” Nolan, Kirsty Iredale, Brad n Claire Davis, Ed n Felice and of course those of us that will be doing the slave labor!

Topanga Days opens Saturday, May 29th featuring Canned Heat.

Sunday our own Debbie Ryder n the Blues Ryders perform at 3pm,

followed by Ziggy Marley at 5pm!

Come visit us daily from 11am-6pm and support your local artists!
